Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Mission Grants

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Mission Grants support grassroots mission and ministry initiatives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.

The grants are of enormous value to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clergy and communities, as the Reverend Canon Auntie Di Langham shares:

“I’ve been the recipient of Mission Grants, and for me, it’s probably the only way that we can get funding to do Indigenous ministries… [With the funding for the campfire ministry of Yinbilikin] we share a meal on the Sunday night so that the kids and the families are fed for the beginning of the week. We then have a service around a campfire. Yinbillikin has an Indigenous flavour to it, with Indigenous prayers and songs.”

ABM’s Mission Grants give Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people a say in how funding should be prioritised and directed. The purpose of the grants is to support mission activities that benefit Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Grant applications which meet the funding guidelines are appraised by members of NATSIAC, the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Anglican Council.

Grant recipients are required to provide complete financial reporting and demonstrate how the purpose of the grant connects with the Anglican Communion’s Marks of Mission.

Preference is given to Anglican Church organisations, or ecumenical initiatives where there is an Anglican connection.

Your support for the mission grants empowers NATSIAC to direct funding to initiatives that best represent the aspirations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Anglicans.

Project Prayer

Since it is by God’s mercy that we are engaged in this ministry, we do not lose heart.
– 2 Corinthians 4.1

Bountiful and generous God,
we give you thanks and praise
for all the creative ways in which
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Anglicans
engage with Christ’s mission:
the mission of the Church.

Pour out your blessings on the
National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Anglican Council
as they discuss and decide which projects
best represent the aspirations of those whom they serve.

Give your mercy and encouragement
to all who are involved at grassroots level with each project,
so that their passion and dedication can be rewarded
with successful outcomes.

And may all that is done
be to the honour of your glorious name.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
