Supporting the people of Myanmar – one meal at a time
More than forty parishioners and visitors attended the ‘Lunch & Learn’ fundraising event presented on Sunday 23 March by ABM in conjunction with Mission and Refugee Support Team at St Paul’s Church, Manuka, in Canberra. They were treated to a light lunch of authentic Burmese food prepared by Colin Bannerman and a presentation by Lyn Bannerman and ABM supporter Tony Naake telling stories drawn from ABM’s pilgrimage to Myanmar in 2020. John Deane, Executive Director of ABM, who preached at the 9.30 Eucharist, answered questions.
Parishioners were very generous in their support; donations on the day amounted to $7600, all of which went to ABM’s emergency appeal for Myanmar. To top it off, a generous benefactor had offered to match the first $2000 raised, bringing the result close to $10,000. ABM has expressed its sincere thanks to all who attended and showed their support for the continued suffering of the people of Myanmar.
