175th Anniversary celebrations begin in Mannum

Apr 9, 2025

Over 50 people gathered at St Andrew’s Mannum on Sunday 30 March to start the celebrations of ABM’s 175th anniversary with worship, a shared lunch and a presentation by ABM’s Key Relationships Manager, Meagan Schwarz.

Parishioners from St Andrew’s Mannum were joined by Anglicans from St John, Mt Pleasant, St George Mt Torrens, St John the Baptist Murray Bridge and St Luke’s Tailem Bend. The two parish priests, the Rev’d Bruce Hicks and the Rev’d Daniel Irvine were pleased with the turn out and collaboration between the two parishes of The Murraylands and Mannum, Mt Pleasant and Mt Torrens.

Meagan’s presentation took those present on a journey from Sydney in 1851 to our current partners and ways of participating in God’s mission in 2025. She encouraged each of them to prayerfully consider how God is calling each one of them to participate in God’s mission through ABM, as they each hold a piece of the mission jigsaw puzzle. And as well all know, every piece of that puzzle is important in the end.

This lunch marks the first of a series of celebratory events that are to occur across Australia, leading to the main celebrations in Sydney on Wednesday 29 October with a service at St James’ King St and dinner at the NSW State Parliament House. All ABM supporters are invited to attend this service and dinner. On the Tuesday, 28 October, there will be a supporter gathering at Christ Church St Laurence, with opportunities to participate in discussions about the direction of mission and meet with other likeminded ABM supporters. More information will be distributed in the coming months.
