Closure of Wontulp-Bi-Buya College
It is with considerable sadness that the Catholic, Anglican, Lutheran and Uniting Churches in Queensland have advised that Wontulp-Bi-Buya College has been closed.
Unfortunately, it became clear that the College was insolvent, and the members concluded that it was not possible to resolve the financial issues.
The member churches have emphasised their gratitude to all the teachers and support staff for all they have done, saying “we are proud of the significant contribution that Wontulp-Bi-Buya has made to theological and other education for First Nations Australians over many decades”.
It is hoped that the academic operations of Wontulp-Bi-Buya will be able to continue under some new structure.
ABM is sad to share the news that Wontulp-Bi-Buya College has entered liquidation. We remain committed to supporting theological and community development education for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Please pray for the staff and students of Wontulp-Bi-Buya College and for the process of finding a path for its important work to continue.
