ABM AID’s Climate Projects Highlighted at Melbourne Market
At a recent 3121 Community Market in Inner City Melbourne, information about ABM AID’s climate change related projects in the Pacific was handed out. Kathy Kozlowski, the Climate Action Group Convenor at St Bartholomew’s, Burnley, was on a stall with other members of the Yarra Climate Action Alliance, a local group supported by the Yarra City Council.
Among the information available for market goers to browse or take home were project information sheets about ABM AID’s Solomon Islands Climate Change and Disaster Management Project and Global Climate Change and Disaster Management Fund. These were complemented by climate change related information in English and other languages from the Australian Religious Response to Climate Change (ARRCC) and Oxfam.
While the market was largely about facepainting and sausages and bric-a-brac, Kathy and the team agreed it was worth being there and they will investigate options for other markets.
ABM commends St Bartholomew’s, Burnley, on creating a Climate Action Group and Kathy on her leadership and partnership with other local organisations. ABM AID’s Sustainable Communities Program supports several projects that address environmental and climate change related issues.
