Anglican Alliance Farewells Rachel Carnegie – Seeks new Executive Director
The Rev’d Rachel Carnegie has played a key role in the Anglican Alliance since its conception in 2009. However, sadly, she is now stepping down as Executive Director of this vital global Anglican organisation.
As Bishop Anthony Poggo, Secretary General of the Anglican Communion said, “Rachel will be truly missed. Her leadership of the Anglican Alliance and commitment to poverty reduction, advocacy, relief and development has been driven by her faith in Christ Jesus.“
Rachel leaves in October this year, but the search for her successor has already begun, with expressions of interest open to those qualified people who share the Alliance’s focus on connecting and equipping “Anglican churches across the Communion, with its 85 million members in 165 countries, responding to human need, promoting justice and peace, and safeguarding creation.”
ABM AID is a member of the Anglican Alliance and sits on its board. It is through the Alliance that we can fund churches around the world as they respond in Christ’s love to the human suffering caused by disasters – including churches in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique, Lebanon, Jerusalem, Pakistan, and Tonga.
ABM AID also supports “Agents of Change”, an Anglican Alliance initiative being rolled out by the Church of Papua New Guinea (see https://www.abmission.org/projects/papua-new-guinea/building-community-resilience/ ) and the Disaster Resilience course in the Pacific (see https://www.abmission.org/projects/global/climate-change-and-disaster-management-fund/ ).
The position of Executive Director of the Anglican Alliance, leading a small but energetic team, is based at the Anglican Communion Office in London.
